Photos I shot this Easter
These photos are of my brother & his fiancé going for a walk with their & my nephew, niece. They are getting married this June! These are not their children of course..they are my sisters children but I would call them my own too.
Easter sunday!
This Easter was nice and peaceful. We went to my parents house, ate our easter dinner, talked with my sister and brother and their fiancés and my sis husband. I took some family photos and of course the you will find the husband on the couch watching sports. I enjoy my niece and nephew they are so adorable. They will be moving this April 1oth to New Jersey..Oh how my mother and I will miss them so much! I would love to go visit them, you know its such a drastic change....where life as we grow that we all go our separate ways. My mother and father are going to be moving early next year to New Mexico! While I stay in California! I don't know what to do...I lived with my family all my life and not sure how I can hold it together with out them being a couple miles away..Pray for me. Family means everything to me. But you know it is time for me to start my own little family too.
I recently got my new pro camera and was so excited to use it. I just started my new photography business so please check it out on PhotographieDeMelisse.carbonmade.com or like me on my facebook page for Photographie De Melisse.

Hello world!
Good morning to everyone! I have done some thinking.. I know that I have some photos of sleeveless pictures of my college projects..and back then I was into the fashion at the time..As I grew throught out the years I have realized how important it is to dress to higher standards. Having gone through the temple from the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Days Saints...(it now is almost 10 months) I have had a challenge that I did not have when I was younger. Everything I am writing is honest feelings and deep from my soul that you can know my experience and know where I come from... I was born into the church ..baptized when I was 8 years old. There was a time during high school where I was trying to find my image and as we know when we are teens we go through identity crises. But I felt I was a little of everything and I could pull of different styles. i.e retro (rockabilly), punk, preppy, grunge..I was already a fashionista waiting to happen. It also depending on the kids I hung out with. I would try to find friends that were nice like me..or what group to fit in. There were many groups of kids in high school and sometimes I would jump group to group having at least one friend that I knew from each class I had. But I didn't seem to fit in too well although everyone thought I was sweet and very nice. I knew everyone was different and unique in their own way. and there are only a few very close friends I have which I actually meet through out my life and they didn't come from my high school..Its when I grew older and found who was true and really there and genuine...kids are kids.. Sometimes in life you find them your best friends. Yet other cases you find them at different times. So I suggest to the teens out there have patience...be the best you and the right people will come to your life.
So back to the dressing challenge...we have a standard of dressing in the church which includes not bearing your shoulders as do other religions have that standard....and not showing our midriffs (tummies) & cleavage .. and our shorts and skirts must be at knee level or 1 maybe 2 inches above knee. So all the shorts I used to wear I have to get rid of. I felt ok with it even though they were name-brands bc now I have an opportunity to start over..New wardwrobe and I felt way better.
It may be hard to find shorts or dresses I need to accommodate my standards and stores have stylish clothing but are not in accordance to what is apprpiate..so I came up with SOLUTIONS....
1. Buy clothing near the fall, early fall and late....there are more sleeved items.
2. little stores..they have stylish clothing for affordable prices and if you like the way a pant fits and there are no shorts around...but them the the knee and cuff them twice and to do a quick stitch do one on each leg in the inside and out on each seam.
3. To fix the see-through clothing yet wear that style..wear a fitted blouse with sleeves under the transparent shirt..that is similar in color light or dark. Keep basic under and now you can wear whats in style with modification.
4. Short dresses... sew a fabric to the dress to add length. It can be contrast or lace material with a lining fabric to keep from exposing your thighs. That way it gives the effect yet has a purpose.

5.And of course we can wear cardigans and cover-ups... or we can make simple sleeves to cover the bare shoulders. If you have any questions comment..and I will surely respond!

Good Night fashionistas
Tonight I had the opportunity to be a guest speaker at "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-days saints" I spoke a little of myself and what I do. I spoke to 13 young ladies and I was delighted to show and teach them to make a fashion illustration. It is an amazing experience to be among girls that are willing to learn and explore their creativity. I had presented a power-point of my background and I'd like to share what I told them so you my friend can know a bit more of myself.
It all started in High school...I took a fashion class as my elective and continued the classes all 4 years of high school then pursued 2 more years in college where I learned all my technical skills. I modeled in my high school fashion shows with the creations and designs I created. In college I had a big opportunity to be the head of production for our annual fashion show. My theme for that year was a circus/ sideshow. The name for the show I created was "Circassian Couture". I worked with the accessory team. make-up, models, set designers... and entertainment for the show. My whole college experience was amazing. So many opportunities to enter many contest and win prizes and money. Yet the most satisfying experience is to see your finish project..from concept (The design/Sketch) to the finished/sewn and constructed garment. I attended and participated several times in the Fashion Symposium in LA where our designs were competing with other students creations from other colleges in southern California. And I won 1st place in sportswear one year. I was really excited. During my college years I have worked for a designer as her fashion freelance illustrator...my most favorite job in the industry. That experience working side by side with a womenswear designer was very inspirational for me I was welcomed in her home and she showed me concepts and ideas she had..I made presentation boards that she presented to Nordstroms and I was being paid to illustrate!
I also had an internship with Stop Staring! a retro-clothing line where I assited the designer and got the chance to work at the LA Fashion Week at the Vibiana. Being around models, designers, celebrities and fashionistas was an unbelievable dream-like time. I was there setting up guest bags full of goodies, then backstage getting all the dresses and outfits ready in order of the runway show, also helping backstage for the models to go out on Queue while were being filmed. The designer I was interning with me asked me to hold her handbag while she was getting interviewed by a reporter..I was so excited they asked me a couple questions too!
I will continue my story in another post..this is my longest post so far! :) to be continued..Good night my friends!
